 5/30/10  −  The 2010 Miriam Braverman Memorial prize has been awarded to Kristen Hogan for her essay “‘Breaking Secrets’ in the Catalog: Proposing the Black Queer Studies Collection at the University of Texas at Austin.” Ms. Hogan is currently enrolled in the Master of Science in Information Studies (MSIS) program at the University of Texas at Austin School of Information.

An honorable mention is given to Steven Lorenz's paper  " The Finer Points of Librarianship: Does a Basic Policy Impede Library Access?" Mr. Lorenz is enrolled in the MLS program in the School of Library and Information Sciences, North Carolina Central University.

Ongoing Activities

  • Letters of support and PLG positions as an Openthegovernment.org coalition partner are located at openthegovernment.org.
  • The Union Librarian project, which chronicles ongoing activities of unions, libraries, and librarians. The project also compiles “There is Power in a Union,"an annual review of labor activities for Progressive Librarian and initiates actions on behalf of  labor,unions,and librarians.
