SRRT members are proud of their more than twenty-five year history. SRRT has worked effectively to make ALA more democratic and to establish progressive priorities not only for the Association, but also for the entire profession. Concern for civil and economic rights was an important element in the founding of SRRT and remains an urgent concern today.

ALA's Social Responsibilities Round Table (SRRT) is for you,

If you are a library worker or supporter who agrees that libraries must recognize and help solve social problems and inequities in order to carry out their mandate to work for the common good, and

If you are a library worker or supporter who agrees that the alternative press; the environment; feminism; poverty; and international responsibilities are vital issues for today's libraries.

SRRT is a dynamic voice for social change within the American Library Association. The Committee on the Status of Women in Librarianship, Government Documents Round Table, the Ethnic Materials Information Exchange Round Table and the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Round Table all began within SRRT. SRRT task forces annually present the ALA/SRRT Coretta Scott King Award and Jackie Eubanks Memorial Award.

SRRT members stimulate the Association and its various units to make libraries more responsive to social needs and more active in promoting social justice. JOIN SRRT FOR ACTION NOW.
